How the Viking Challenge makes a difference
We are a charity event and donate all our proceeds each year, split between Redmile CofE School and a nominated charity. The event is run by volunteers and we have 200 people volunteering covering; marshal points, food tent and stops, route and many more jobs.

Reach is a local charity with base in Southwell, Newark and Mansfield.
They create a community where people with learning disabilities can make a good future for themselves – a safe, healthy and happy life filled with purpose, achievement, opportunity and friendship.
They work to achieve an enduring and positive impact by supporting all those who place their trust in us – people with learning disabilities, their families and carers. To accomplish this, they will bring together the support of extraordinary people in our community and the imagination, skills, commitment and compassion of their team.
Redmile School has 87 pupils, so organising and hosting such a successful event like the Viking Challenge is no small feat and something that the staff, children and parents are immensely proud of. The Viking Challenge makes a big impact and has raised thousands of pounds for the school preventing it from closing in the early days and now providing facilities and opportunities for the children including:
- New learning resource area for small groups to work in.
- IT equipment used by pupils, including iPads and laptop computers
- Creation of a cooking room
- Developing the playground and Early Years outdoor learning area
- Creation of a quiet area
- Outdoor play area & frame
To date we have raised over £500,000 for Redmile School & over 20 charities
